Thesis Abstract: Electronic systems can form topological insulators, which are insulating in the bulk and conducting at the surface. Topological insulators of bosons in general and magnons in particular conduct heat and spin via bulk and edge channels because they lack the Fermi level. By gaining a better understanding of topological magnons, I try to identify ways to detect them via signatures in transport and other observables that can be used in real measurements.
